Read MoreThese Epic Northern Lights Breaks are some of our favourite breaks as they combine the very best activities in different Aurora destinations to create longer Northern Lights Trips for those looking to experience everything they can in terms of daytime activities and Northern Lights experiences. On these trips you will have the opportunity to see the Northern Lights in different ways. It could be on a Northern Lights SuperJeep Hunt in Iceland, or you could see the Auroras as you go up the chairlift to Abisko Sky Station in Swedish Lapland, out on a Northern Lights Hunt by Boat in Iceland and Norway, or you can even go on a Photographic Northern Lights evening with pre-set camera to capture that perfect Northern Lights shot.
Day time activities abound as you have the opportunity to go Snowmobiling across stunning wilderness in Sweden and high up on Glaciers in Iceland. Husky Sledding is a “must do” in our view for those going to Swedish Lapland and is a wonderful way to experience the beauty of a frozen river valley, but it is now also available in the North of Iceland with some gorgeous Siberian Huskies based in a very small kennel. In both locations expect to be invited back into the owners house afterwards for some play time with the Huskies, or to help stretch out the Huskies after their exercise and some warming soup.
In Norway the beautiful Fjords beckon and boat trips through the majestic mountains are truly unforgettable, and if you are lucky enough to see the Northern Lights by boat in amongst the Fjords you will be blown away by the magical beauty of the moment. As you traverse between Swedish and Norwegian Lapland you have the opportunity to stop and explore Narvik, famed for it’s great battle in the second world war, and the Polar Park where you can see wolves, bear, lynx and musk.
The indigenous Sami community have been herding reindeer through Lapland for centuries and we offer an insight into both their traditional and modern world with evenings spent in their company as they take you through their lifestyle, as well as introduce you to their reindeer.
Iceland offers an array of dramatic volcanic wilderness. Prepare yourself for erupting Geysers, bubbling mud pools, a mini rift valley (who knew that existed in Europe?!), Lava flows, Lave tubes & shapes, High up Glaciers with views across the Atlantic, as well as a diverse range of thundering waterfalls. The most powerful waterfall in Europe, Dettifoss is a sight to be seen, (and heard!), and walking behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall in the South of Iceland is always a popular one (Though we recommend you wear head to toe waterproofs!!). Oh and I haven’t even got to the secret Ice Cave and many Volcanoes that we will take you to explore on exciting Super-Jeep Adventures. This is off-roading like you have never experienced before!
In Swedish Lapland you can, either stay at, or visit the famous and original ICEHOTEL. The Ice Hotel now has a separate IceHotel 365 where you can stay in Deluxe Art Suites with ensuite bathrooms and an Ice Bar year round, whilst the original IceHotel is rebuilt every December with a new look in all of the art suites every year. Everyone always waits with interest to see what this years new chapel will look like, and what new thought inspires the new theme and art of an art suite.
There is whale watching in Iceland, and Norway too, with some great incidence of sightings of Whales – especially the HumpBack and Orca’s
