Day by Day Itinerary
Arrive and the Aurora Safari Camp
Arrive into Lulea where you will be met by your transfer and taken off into the winter wonderland of Lulea and beyond. You will arrive at you new ‘aurora base’ for the next three nights where you will get to meet the team, get kitted out in your winter clothing and explore your new surroundings. Enjoy a relaxing sauna and a delicious meal as you settle into this peaceful arctic paradise.
Snowmobile Adventures
Today you will embark on an immersive full day guided snowmobile excursion through the enchanting landscapes of the Råne River Valley. Following a comprehensive snowmobile handling session you will then venture out through dense forests, across frozen lakes and rivers, and ascend to the mountain peaks. Along the way, frequent stops offer insightful lessons on the rich essence of Swedish Lapland: its historical significance, natural wonders, seasonal nuances, and in-depth knowledge about snow and ice conditions. You will stop for lunch along the way.
This is an epic day trip out and when you return you can spend some time relaxing in the sauna and getting ready for a delicious dinner.
Dog Sledding and Ice Sculpting
In the morning you will head out on your own sled through a beautiful white landscape and enjoy the scenery and power of the dogs. Half-way through the journey you will stop for a tasty outdoor lunch from around the campfire and cuddle the hard-working huskies.
Then back at the camp, unleash your creative side by participating in an ice sculpting class that involves using large blocks of ice sourced from the nearby river, along with professional tools. Your guide will provide initial guidance, and then it is up to you to decide how long you want to work on your creations.
In the evening you will have your final dinner at the property whilst the guides keep an eye out for the Northern Lights across the frozen lake.
Returning Home
In the morning you will be transferred back to the airport. Your trip doesn’t have to end here though, there are plenty of other places to explore and experience in this part of Swedish Lapland. You might even want to combine it with a stay in the country’s capital city – just speak to one of our sales team to assist you with some ideas on what you can do.
Where You'll Stay
Aurora Safari Camp
Founded in 2013 by photographer Fredrik Broman and safari specialist Jonas Gejke, Aurora Safari Camp stands as the world’s inaugural glamping site designed to embrace the Arctic winter conditions. Nestled adjacent to the expansive frozen Lake Degerselet, a fragment smaller than Manhattan Island, the camp is inspired by Kenya’s secluded bush camp model but caters to the unpredictable Arctic climate. Accessible through Luleå airport or Boden C train station, the camp offers private guided transfers through the enchanting forest, with the option of a winter arrival via snowmobile sleigh.
There are three winter room options available. Two heated Lapland Cone rooms with en-suite, glass roof and panoramic windows, similar heated Tipi Cabins with en-suite
Enjoy a wide range of Arctic winter activities, workshops or day trips from the camp, before relaxing in the sauna which will leave you feeling rejuvenated and recharged.

I appreciate the fast response to my inquiries regarding my trip. It would take decision making faster on my part, and plan my itinerary and activities being offered by the company accordingly.
Dear Abigail, We have safely returned from Iceland and we wanted to say a huge and sincere thank you for all the plans that you put into place to make this one of the most memorable holidays we have ever had. It was simply beautiful each and every day. The cabin was idyllic and so cosy and warm. The tour guides were so knowledgeable and friendly and the scenery was breathtaking. All the arrangements worked so well and we will remember the trip for a long time to come.
Thank you once again.
We had a fantastic 4 nights that included glaciers, waterfalls, geysers, the aurora borealis and more! Lovely hotels, especially Hotel Ranga. We filled every moment and felt thoroughly invigorated on our return.
What a fantastic trip! I booked this for myself and my husband to celebrate my 40th birthday and it didn’t disappoint! Booking was simple and we were kept up to date with all the details from the office team in the UK.
From the moment we arrived at Kiruna airport all the staff we encountered were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We opted for the upgraded room at the Abisko Mountain Lodge which I would highly recommend. The cold weather clothing which was supplied was fantastic and kept us really warm in the sub-zero temperatures. The dog sledging, snowmobiling and the Northern Lights photography were all superb and the staff leading the trips were really friendly and so knowledgeable. Even though we weren’t able to do the sky station trip because of the weather, there was a lovely alternative evening organised for us which included a traditional dinner and a walk to the lake where we were able to see the lights. The food at the lodge was also exceptional and showcased some lovely traditional dishes using Moose and Reindeer which were wonderful to try.
I would like to send a massive thank you to all the staff at The Abisko Mountain Lodge as well as the guides we used for our guided walks, dog sledging and snowmobiling. I’d highly recommend the trip, it was our first visit to Sweden and we would definitely return. Thanks again to everyone (including the huskies) who made it so memorable!
Superb holiday to Iceland, well organised, advice regarding trips informative and far exceeded our expectations (Glaciers and ice Cave) run by South Coast. Hotel Ranga is a lovely hotel, perfect to see Northern Lights (which we did see on our 3rd night), very comfortable, food excellent, staff helpful and informative. SouthCoast Adventure tour company were excellent, guides knowledgeable, and clearly very experienced.
An amazing trip and excellent service provided by all involved. Great value for money too. Food was excellent. Accommodation was wonderful and the trips booked were outstanding. An amazing trip
We have never before experienced such friendly and simultaneously professional service! Alex’s communication was super prompt, questions encouraged and welcomed and attended to with great care and detail. Everything was well organised and available on beautifully designed and very useful platforms. Our destination (Mattarahkka Northern Lights Lodge) was fabulous on so many different levels – exquisite views, friendly interactions from everyone on the team, great food, exciting activities, perfectly situated to see the northern lights (seen twice in 4 nights’ stay), a great fire place, and not to mention our fantastic guide Fabio. Their provision of winter kit (hats, down jacket, snow trousers, leather gloves and boots) offered everything we needed to be comfortable outside. All we needed to have packed really were base layers, a few layers of clothing and woollen socks. Defintely somewhere we would highly recommend and return to when possible!
Brilliant short break. Hotel Ranga was lovely, excellent food. Managed to see the Northern Lights as well! Iceland on the whole was quite expensive but a lovely place to visit, the people were very friendly.
