This is a great combination offering you the chance to see many of Iceland’s natural wonders whilst staying in the vibrant capital of Reykjavik, as well as Aurora Hunting, Whale Watching and taking a SuperJeep Tour.
Whilst Whale Watching has traditionally been a Summer activity in Iceland, the last 2 winters have proven that the incidence of sightings in the winter is very good too at about 70%, so now you can see Whales and the Northern Lights at the same time!
Private Transfers to and from the hotel are available if you wish to upgrade. Please advise at time of enquiry
Fly to Reykjavik and take a flybus transfer into the centre.
After dinner you have your first excitement lined up which is a Boat Cruise to try and see the Northern Lights. Hunting the Northern Lights from the ocean is an amazing experience.
Sail away from the coastline of Reykjavik and hopefully see the Aurora Borealis out on the North Atlantic ocean with beautiful mountains and the city lights in the background.
This 2-3 hour Northern Lights cruise includes warm overalls to wear, heated seating areas inside and an expert guide on board to explain the Northern Lights. If you are not lucky enough to see them you have the chance to go out again the next evening at no extra cost (availability allowing).
Meet the Guides & Captains from the boat tours you will be on
Overnight in Reykjavik.
This guided SuperJeep Tour is a must for anyone that has not been to Iceland before.
You will walk in a dramatic mini rift valley created by Tectonic plate movement, gaze at the thundering Gullfoss Waterfall, which can totally freeze in winter, and marvel at the Strokkur Geyser which erupts every 5 mins.
If you are lucky and the weather conditions are right the guide sometimes takes you up in the SuperJeep for a short drive actually on the Glacier. Finally, time allowing, the guide will also add a visit to the stunning blue-green volcanic basalt lake Kerid, before your return to Reykjavik.
For those of you looking for a bit more adventure there is the option to add on the optional extra of a 1 hour snowmobile thrilling ride over the Langjokull Glacier (see below).
Evening at leisure and overnight in Reykjavik.
For those looking for a bit of a thrill you can add on a one hour snowmobile drive on Langjokull glacier onto your Golden Circle SuperJeep Tour.
Price Per Person: From £115 for Shared Snowmobile between 2 people
Price Per Person: From £75 for Extra Solo Supplement for driving Snowmobile
Morning at leisure to enjoy Reykjavik. For ideas of things to do in Reykjavik.
Early afternoon you have your 3hr Whale Watching trip.
The boats offer comfort, a warm interior and a large outside viewing deck. The captain and crew point out where to spot the whales and give interesting information about the different kinds of whales and seabirds you can expect to see.
The guides also take specimens from the ocean on each tour and show them to our passengers on an on-board screen using special microscopes. Here the ocean comes to life as you get to see and feel objects such as baleen plates, whale teeth and whale bones. Warm overalls are provided to keep you warm and dry and there is a bar where drinks and snacks can be purchased. Meet the Guides & Captains from the boat tours you will be on
This evening you will be taken out from Reykjavik in a SuperJeep into the wilderness for a final search of the Northern Lights.
Given cloudless skies sightings can occur from autumn to early spring. The elders say that the colder the nights the more vibrant and intense the colours will be. Swirling and swaying overhead, displays are usually greenish yellow but white, red and pink lights also frequently appear.
Please note the maximum number of passengers in the SuperJeep is 6 in order to give you a very personal and individual tour.
This is in sharp contrast to the coach tours that are available through other companies, or the very large SuperJeep Tours with 12 people in. Overnight at Reykjavik.
The Reykjanes Peninsula provides a beautiful landscape with volcanic and geothermal wonders and a surf-pounded coast, as well as the opportunity to see the newest part of the planet created by the 2021 Volcanic eruption.
The driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Reykjavik and take you to the hiking route towards the recent volcanic eruption in Geldingadalur. You will spend about 1 hour at the eruption site and the hike there and back is 45 min-1 hr each way (2k). We focus on spending time at the hardened lava flow itself .
Afterwards you will explore the Reykjanes Peninsula in south-west Iceland. This is a volcanic area, renowned for its mountains, craters, hot springs, and lava fields. The eruption at Geldingadalir, however, is the first in the region for 800 years.
You will spend about 2 hours exploring the highlights of the Reykjanes Peninsula: Seltún, Lake Kleifarvatn, Gunnuhver geyser, Brimketill Lava Pool, Grindavik Fishing Village, Reykjanes, Krysuvík, and the Bridge between the continents.
The Bridge between the continents is a spot where guests can walk from the Eurasian tectonic plate to the North American one, all the while learning about the rift valley that intersects Iceland. Brimketill is a dramatic lava coastal rock pool on the Reykjanes Peninsula, renowned for its photogenic sunset shots and folklore. Krysuvik and Seltùn is like stepping into another dimension. At Seltún you will see both solfataras and fumaroles which are bubbling mud pools and steaming hot springs.
The mud pools all around you are simmering and boiling, hissing through vents in the mud.
The colours in this area range from different nuances of red, grey, brown, silver, blue, and yellow to white – all in one area!
Gunnhuver Geyser is 65 feet across and is constantly spewing dense cloudy steam which is unique in Iceland as it is entirely seawater due to the proximity to the sea. Lake Kleifarvatn is an interesting lake that is entirely fed from a source underground. After a 2000 earthquake the level has dropped by 20%.
Lunch is included at a restaurant and the tour is about 8 hours. Return transfer to overnight in Reykjavik.
Please note this tour is a full day tour to and from Reykjavik .
Price per person: From £285. Please note for many of the trips you will also need to add an extra night in Reykjavik and associated extended car-hire (if using carhire) which would also be extra.
After breakfast check out before a flybus transfer to the Blue Lagoon, one of Iceland’s most famous sites, whose geothermal waters are particularly good for your skin.
Here you can bathe in the warm bright blue waters, put Silica mud on your face or try out the Sauna and Steam rooms which are carved into the lava.
You can easily while away a couple of hours and there is also a choice of restaurants with lovely views of the Lagoon. We would also recommend the in-water massage treatments which are just heaven!
Afterwards your flybus transfer will take you to the airport for your flight home.

Hotel Reykjavik Centrum is a relatively new hotel in the heart of the city, opened on April 1st 2005. It is located on one of Reykjavik’s oldest streets, Adalstraeti, right in the heart of Reykjavik in a newly renovated building, the oldest part of which was built in 1764.
The hotel has 89 rooms, each fitted with modern amenities, such as satellite TV, telephone, Internet access, mini-bar, radio, iron and board, hair dryer, safe and tea & coffee set. All rooms have ensuite bathroom with either a shower or a bath.
During its construction, the remains of a Viking longhouse from the Settlement Period were found. Among the finds excavated at the site were Iceland’s oldest human remains, dating from approximately 870 AD.

"I could write pages on The Golden Circle Tour but I doubt I could do justice to the brilliance of the experience and the enthusiasm and pride of the people involved in taking us. We thoroughly enjoyed the short break you arranged".
"The guide for the Northern Lights tour was steadfast in his mission to find them despite a ton of snow falling every second and others in the group naysaying the whole endeavour. Turned out he was spot on, the sky cleared and there they were, good on him."
