Itinerary Inspiration

Day 1

Arrival in Swedish Lapland and Arctic Dining

Arriving at Luleå Airport, you are welcomed to Swedish Lapland, where frozen rivers, snow covered forests and wide northern skies create an immediate sense of calm. A private transfer takes you away from the city and into the quieter landscapes surrounding Harads, allowing you to settle into the rhythm of the Arctic from the moment your journey begins.

Your destination is Arctic Bath, an architecturally distinctive wellness retreat set beside the Lule River. In winter, its circular floating spa appears frozen into the surrounding landscape, creating a striking contrast between contemporary Scandinavian design and the wilderness beyond. The retreat has been created around the Nordic relationship between heat, cold, water and nature, offering a peaceful base for your winter escape.

After checking in, you settle into your spacious Suite Cabin. Positioned on the shoreline and raised above the ground, the cabin provides privacy and generous views of the surrounding forest. Inside, warm natural materials, a pellet stove, a king size bed and a secluded mezzanine sleeping area create an inviting retreat from the winter cold. A private outdoor deck offers another quiet place from which to absorb the stillness of Swedish Lapland.

Your first evening introduces you to Arctic Bath’s culinary philosophy. Dinner is shaped by the seasons and inspired by ingredients sourced from the landscapes of northern Sweden. Local traditions are interpreted with modern techniques, creating a refined dining experience that feels closely connected to its setting.

After dinner, the remainder of the evening is yours to enjoy at an unhurried pace. Step outside to check the northern sky, relax beside the warmth of your cabin or simply appreciate the silence surrounding the retreat. With little artificial light nearby, there may already be an opportunity to see the Northern Lights above the forest.

Day 2

Snowmobiling, Spa Time and a Private Fireside Celebration

Begin the morning with breakfast at Arctic Bath before preparing for a private snowmobile journey through the wintry landscapes of Swedish Lapland. Warm outdoor clothing is provided, helping you remain comfortable as you travel away from the retreat and into the surrounding wilderness.

Following your experienced guide, you set out along snowy trails that lead through forests and across open Arctic terrain. Snowmobiling offers an exhilarating way to explore this remote region, covering distances that would otherwise remain inaccessible during winter. The route reveals a landscape shaped by deep snow, frozen waterways and woodland marked with the tracks of local wildlife.

During the approximately five hour experience, you stop at a cabin along the trail for a freshly prepared lunch. Food is cooked beside the fire, creating a warming pause in the heart of the snow covered landscape. As you eat, your guide shares stories about Swedish Lapland, its natural environment and the animals that inhabit the region. You can swap drivers during the tour, allowing both travellers to experience controlling the snowmobile. Single driving can be arranged at an additional cost.

Returning to Arctic Bath, the afternoon is deliberately slower. Spend time in the spa, moving between the warmth of the sauna and the invigorating cold bathing ritual associated with the Lule River. You may also relax in the outdoor hot tubs or book an additional treatment.

This evening brings a particularly memorable birthday celebration with a private Arctic Fireside Table. Beneath the northern sky, you gather near the warmth of a fire before entering a welcoming lavvu. A three course meal is prepared using local Arctic ingredients, accompanied by the scents of the fire and the silence of the surrounding wilderness.

Throughout the evening, watch the sky for signs of the Northern Lights. Should the Aurora appear, the private setting allows you to experience it far from crowds and artificial light.

Day 3

Private Husky Adventure and Arctic Culinary Flavours

After breakfast at Arctic Bath, today’s experience introduces you to one of the most traditional and atmospheric ways to travel through the winter landscapes of the north. You are collected for a private self drive dog sledding adventure, during which you can learn how to guide your own eager husky team.

Before setting out, your guide introduces you to the dogs and explains the basic techniques needed to control the sled. The huskies are energetic working animals, and their excitement builds as preparations are completed. Once the team begins to run, the sound of barking quickly gives way to the gentle movement of the sled across the snow.

Travelling through snow covered woodland and across frozen terrain, you experience the Arctic at a pace that allows you to notice its smaller details. Frosted trees line the route, animal tracks cross the trail and the winter silence surrounds you whenever the dogs pause. As this is a private experience, the journey can be adapted to suit your preferred pace and level of confidence.

During the approximately three and a half hour excursion, you stop for an outdoor lunch prepared beside the fire. This warming break offers time to talk with your guide, learn more about the huskies and enjoy the simple pleasure of eating outside in the Arctic wilderness. There is an opportunity to swap drivers during the journey, while a single sled can be arranged for an additional supplement.

Following your return to Arctic Bath, the afternoon is free for relaxation. You may revisit the spa, enjoy the comfort of your Suite Cabin or take a quiet walk through the snow surrounding the retreat.

Dinner this evening is another Arctic Culinary Experience, with seasonal dishes inspired by northern ingredients and Swedish food traditions. Afterwards, step outside beneath the dark sky. The peaceful location and limited artificial light provide another chance to watch for the Northern Lights before returning to the warmth of your cabin.

Day 4

Nordic Wellness and a Private Northern Lights Chase

Your final full day at Arctic Bath is designed around rest, restoration and the anticipation of an evening beneath the northern sky. Following breakfast, there is no need to rush, allowing you to enjoy the retreat and its surroundings at your own pace.

Spend the morning in Arctic Bath’s distinctive spa, where traditional Nordic wellness rituals are closely connected to the natural landscape. Warm yourself in the dry sauna or steam sauna before experiencing the contrast of cold bathing. During winter, the central open air pool becomes an ice hole fed by the Lule River, creating an invigorating ritual that has long been part of Nordic culture. Outdoor hot tubs offer a gentler way to enjoy the cold surroundings while remaining immersed in warmth.

Lunch is served at the hotel, continuing the focus on local ingredients and seasonal flavours. Later, each of you enjoys a one hour Body and Soul massage. This gentle treatment is intended to release tension, encourage deep relaxation and support restful sleep. It is particularly welcome after the previous days of snowmobiling and dog sledding.

As evening arrives, sit down to a three course dinner at Arctic Bath before preparing for your private Northern Lights experience. Your guide collects you from the retreat in a comfortable vehicle and studies the latest weather information, cloud cover and Aurora forecasts to determine the most promising direction.

The evening may involve travelling through the surrounding region in search of clearer skies. When suitable conditions are found, you stop in a quiet location away from artificial light. A fire is lit and warm drinks and a homemade snack are served while your guide shares stories, folklore and scientific insight into the Aurora.

Northern Lights sightings can never be guaranteed, but a private chase provides flexibility and local expertise. Whether the sky fills with colour or remains quietly star filled, the experience offers an intimate final evening in the Swedish Arctic.

Day 5

A Final Morning beside the Frozen Lule River

Wake for your final morning at Arctic Bath, with time to appreciate the quiet landscape before beginning your journey home. The retreat’s peaceful location beside the Lule River makes mornings particularly atmospheric, when soft winter light begins to appear above the forest and the snow reflects subtle shades of blue and silver.

Enjoy breakfast in the restaurant, where your final meal continues the focus on Scandinavian simplicity and seasonal northern ingredients. Looking across the frozen surroundings, you can reflect on the contrasting experiences of the previous days, from the energy of snowmobiling and dog sledding to the stillness of the spa and the anticipation of searching for the Northern Lights.

Depending on your flight time, there may be an opportunity for a final moment outside. Step onto your cabin’s private deck, take a short walk through the snow or simply remain inside beside the warmth of the pellet stove. The spacious Suite Cabin provides a comfortable place to prepare for departure without feeling hurried.

When it is time to leave, check out of Arctic Bath and meet your driver for the private transfer to Luleå Airport. The journey takes you back through the forests and winter scenery of Swedish Lapland, gradually returning you to the region’s main transport connections.

Your holiday may be ending, but the memories are likely to remain vivid. Driving a husky team across the snow, sharing lunch beside an open fire, dining privately in an Arctic lavvu and spending an evening searching remote skies for the Aurora each reveal a different side of the north.

You arrive at Luleå Airport in time for your onward flight. Flights are not included, allowing travel arrangements to be selected around your preferred departure airport and schedule.
