Our Autumn Aurora adventure in Swedish Lapland begins when you arrive into Stockholm, where the historic Hotel Reisen will be our base for two nights. Nestled in the heart of the city, overlooking the waterfront and Gamla Stan, the hotel offers a blend of classic elegance and modern comfort. Days in Stockholm will be spent exploring its charming cobbled streets, visiting the Royal Palace, and perhaps a fika at a traditional Swedish café.
Located in the heart of Abisko National Park, a prime Northern Lights viewing location due to its unique microclimate and minimal light pollution, the lodge offers a cosy and authentic Arctic experience. Early September provides an ideal window to witness the Autumn Equinox Northern Lights displays. Each evening, we’ll venture out with expert guides, learning about the science and folklore of the aurora borealis, hoping to witness the celestial ballet unfold across the vast Arctic sky.
This 6-night Swedish escapade promises an unforgettable journey from the vibrant capital to the serene Arctic wilderness, timed perfectly to witness the early September Equinox Northern Lights displays.
Our days in Abisko will be filled with immersive Arctic activities. We’ll embark on hikes into the vibrant autumn forests, marvelling at the golden hues of the birch and pine trees, and keeping a keen eye out for wildlife. A highlight will be a dedicated reindeer encounter, where we’ll learn about these magnificent creatures and their role in Sami culture, perhaps even getting the chance to feed them. The Lodge also offers opportunities for gentle hikes to scenic viewpoints within the national park, providing stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains and canyons.
