Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival into Kajaani Airport where you will be met by your transfer and taken to your hotel, Artic Giant. Here you will check in and get kitted up with your winter clothing before settling into your accommodation. This will be your home for the next three nights – the perfect getaway to switch off and relax, whilst also taking in the incredible scenery, a few excursions, and the possible sighting of the northern lights.
Day 2
After breakfast you will embark on an exhilarating snowmobile journey from the Arctic Giant Birdhouse Hotel, winding its way through the frozen forests of the Kainuu region. Covering a trail of about 20-30 kilometers, the ride halts midway at a cosy fireplace, inviting you to savor a moment with hot beverages and delightful local snacks. Then in the evening you will delve into the essence of the Finnish Arctic with the Aurora Camp excursion, crafted to tantalize your senses.
It’s not just about searching for the northern lights, but also indulging in a flavourful tasting experience. This unique adventure intertwines the magic of the aurora with the distinct Kainuu taste through a food tasting journey. Starting from the Arctic Giant Birdhouse Hotel, your guide will escort you to the Aurora Camp, where the flickering flames ignite both the fire and the excitement. Day 3
You will leave the hotel and head out on a mesmerizing guided trip through the wintry panoramas of Arctic Giant. Your knowledgeable guide will lead you into the untamed expanses, narrating tales about the snow, the natural wonders, and the majestic giants that inhabit the Arctic Giant region.
This expedition promises an immersive encounter with Finnish nature, offering a first-hand experience of snow-laden landscapes and the serene tranquility that defines this remote wilderness. Day 4
Departure back to Kajaani airport – your adventure does not have to end here. There are options to extend your stay here, or perhaps you might like to spend some time in Helsinki. Overall very good. Staff excellent and helpful. Accomodation basic but was what we expected. Tour guides very good (nature walks, snow mobiles, dog sleighs). Sky station disappointing as we never got to go up due to the weather and this seem to be a recurring feature.The alternative walk at night and meal was a let down as a result.Overall would recommend to others.

We totally enjoyed the city of Reykjavik and the many beautiful waterfalls. He went above and beyond to not only recommend sights to see around the Golden Circle and Ring Road, but also mapped it out so we were prepared to drive through the country during unpredictable weather and road conditions. An excellent holiday which was enjoyed by all. The super jeep ride on the second day to the Eyjafjallajokull volcano was memorable and thanks to our driver Margaret who proved to be a really good guide. We thoroughly enjoyed the facilities in the hotel Ranga. The staff were very helpful and we managed to see the Northern Lights. The Hotel Reykjavik Centrum was very nice with amazingly helpful staff. All in all, the whole holiday was brilliant.

The food was excellent and the experiences, especially Husky Homes, were brilliant. We saw the aurora lights at the mountain top in Abisko where the photography tour will be an enduring memory of a wonderful time.
