The journey begins with a night at the ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi, where you’ll sleep in a hand-carved ice suite created by international artists. Later, a private transfer brings you to Björkliden, where your warm and well-equipped Kåppas Cabin offers views of Abisko’s wild terrain.

Your New Year’s Eve is celebrated in true Arctic style. In the morning, join a scenic snowmobile tour, exploring frozen lakes and birch forests. That evening, enjoy a gala dinner at the lodge, with a possible sighting of the Northern Lights dancing above.

On New Year’s Day, explore at your leisure using sleds or snowshoes. In the evening, join an Aurora Chase led by expert guides, who will take you to the best viewing spots based on conditions.

Your trip concludes with a private Arctic Adventure, fully tailored to you and your family, with activities such as ice fishing, snowmobiling and outdoor cooking. A warm wilderness lunch completes the day.

This itinerary offers a beautiful balance of celebration, nature and cultural connection. From ice beds to reindeer sleigh rides, from silent forests to New Year fireworks, it is a journey that brings stories home for a lifetime.

Check in to your Art Suite, carved entirely from ice and reindeer hides, offering a surreal yet cosy experience. This evening, enjoy a five-course dinner served on ice plates in the atmospheric restaurant. The ICEHOTEL surroundings, with softly glowing lanterns and crisp Arctic air, set the tone for your immersive Lapland adventure.

Day 2

Husky Safari, Reindeer Visit and Transfer to Björkliden (30 December)

Begin the morning with a shared husky sled ride through snowy landscapes. Enjoy the rhythm of the dogs and the stillness of the forest as you mush through the morning light. Return to the ICEHOTEL for lunch before visiting a Sámi open-air museum, where you’ll meet reindeer and learn about indigenous culture and life in the Arctic. Later, transfer privately to Björkliden, where you’ll check into your Kåppas Cabin, a warm and comfortable chalet with a sauna and space for the family. Enjoy a three-course dinner at the lodge.

Day 3

Scenic Snowmobiling and New Year’s Eve Gala (31 December)

Today, head out on a guided snowmobile safari with two riders per machine, weaving through Abisko National Park. The scenery here is dramatic, with frozen lakes, jagged peaks and wide Arctic skies. Return to your cabin and enjoy the afternoon at your own pace. You can use complimentary sleds or hire snowshoes to explore nearby trails. In the evening, dress for celebration as you sit down for a New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner. Toast the arrival of 2026 under the northern sky – with luck, the aurora may appear to help you celebrate.

The Original ICEHOTEL - Swedish Lapland

The Original ICEHOTEL is situated in Jukassjarvi Swedish Lapland and is a feat of engineering and artistic creation.  We recommend staying in an Art Suite to appreciate the full ICEHOTEL experience and our itineraries feature these rooms as standard. They cost a little more but add hugely to your appreciation of this Once in a Lifetime experience.

The ICEHOTEL consists of 2 structures – the temporary hotel is rebuilt each year from blocks of ice harvested from the Torne river which runs adjacent to the IceHotel. These blocks are stored for the summer in a huge warehouse and as the late Autumn temperature in Jukkasjärvi drops below zero ice artists arrive from all over the world to build this magnificent creation. They build the 4 levels of rooms, the ice chapel and the ice bar. Their art is created with imagination and hard work, only to melt away under the unforgiving rays of the spring sun.

The new ICEHOTEL 365 is a permanent ICEHOTEL and a feat of engineering which offers visitors the chance of staying the whole year round. It houses both Art suites and the Deluxe Art Suites  (which we offer as an upgrade)  with their luxury en suite bathrooms. It is also home to the celebrated ICEBAR.

You have your own private locker room where you can change and leave your bags whilst having access to the adjacent service block where there are saunas, toilets and showers.

Wake up to a hot Lingonberry juice served in your room prior to the very substantial ICEHOTEL breakfast served in the main restaurant.

For Dinner the ICEHOTEL  has 2 restaurants, one serving gourmet food, whilst the more informal Homestead restaurant serves hearty traditional food.
