Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Swedish Lapland and Welcome to The Outpost

Your journey begins with a scenic private transfer from Luleå through snow-laden forests and winding roads framed by frozen rivers and pine trees. You’ll arrive in the peaceful village of Mårdsel, home to just a handful of cabins and one remarkable lodge: The Outpost. This exclusive-use lodge, once the village post office, is now a warm and inviting base tailored for Arctic celebrations. Upon arrival, your private host will greet you with drinks and a personalised briefing. Take time to explore the lodge’s inviting lounge, record collection, library and panoramic outdoor deck. After dark, enjoy a seasonal three-course dinner crafted by your in-house chef using locally sourced ingredients. Whether you end the evening unwinding in the sauna, soaking in the steaming outdoor hot tub, or stepping outside for your first chance to see the Northern Lights, this is just the beginning of something unforgettable.

Day 2

Snowmobiling through the Arctic and Fireside Leisure

Awake to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and a hearty breakfast prepared in your private kitchen. After layering up in Arctic gear, set off on a guided snowmobile safari into the Råne River Valley. With your expert guide leading the way, you’ll travel across vast frozen lakes, dense spruce forests and sweeping snow plains where animal tracks reveal the hidden stories of the landscape. The experience includes a lunch cooked over open flames at a remote fireside, surrounded by quiet wilderness. Return to The Outpost for a relaxed afternoon. You may choose to read in the lounge, play board games by the fire or enjoy a Swedish afternoon fika with warm drinks and homemade treats. As the sky turns inky black, sink into the hot tub beneath a star-filled sky, sip a nightcap, and watch for streaks of green as the Aurora Borealis emerges once more.

Day 3

Husky Sledding and Snowshoeing beneath the Stars

After breakfast, meet your team of Arctic huskies, full of energy and eager for the trail. With help from your guide, learn to mush your own dog sled and travel through the silent wilderness, following snow-covered trails once used by reindeer herders. You’ll feel a deep sense of connection to nature as your sled glides through Lapland’s wintry stillness. Midway through, pause for fika by a campfire with warm drinks and pastries, then return to the lodge for a restful afternoon. As evening falls, strap on snowshoes and venture into the forest on a guided Aurora walk. Torches light your path as you climb to a secluded viewpoint. Gather by a crackling fire, sip hot lingonberry juice and watch the night sky open above you. If the conditions are right, shimmering ribbons of green, pink and violet will reward your quiet patience.

Day 4

A Gentle Farewell and Optional Wildlife Encounter

On your final morning, take things slowly. Enjoy a lingering breakfast at the wooden dining table and soak in the comfort of your surroundings. If time permits before your return transfer, opt for a visit to a nearby moose park. Here, you can meet these gentle giants in a natural setting and learn about their behaviour and significance in Swedish folklore. Return to Luleå by private vehicle, taking in the snowy landscape one last time. Depart feeling restored and inspired, with photographs, stories and shared moments that capture the essence of Swedish Lapland in winter.
