Journey North to Lofoten and Arctic Sauna Serenity
This morning, transfer privately to the airport for your flight north into the Arctic Circle. Upon arrival in Svolvær, the gateway to the Lofoten Islands, a short private transfer takes you to your traditional rorbu cabin, perched on the water with views of dramatic mountains and fjords. After settling in, enjoy dinner at Børsen Spiseri, a historic restaurant housed in a former quayside warehouse. Later, unwind in a private floating sauna on the fjord. As steam rises into the cold Arctic air, keep watch for the Northern Lights shimmering across the night sky.
Iconic Lofoten Landscapes and Snowshoe Adventure
Following breakfast, embark on a full day shared driving tour through the Lofoten Islands. Travel along scenic coastal roads framed by towering peaks, tranquil fjords and traditional fishing villages. Highlights include stops at some of Norway’s most photographed locations, including Reine and surrounding hamlets, where red cabins contrast vividly against snow covered mountains. Lunch is taken at leisure during the tour. In the evening, return to Svolvær for dinner before heading out on a guided snowshoe hike. Walking beneath Arctic skies, you will reach a mountain shelter where warm drinks and storytelling await, with the possibility of Northern Lights appearing overhead.
From Fjords to Fjord City and Northern Lights at Sea
Enjoy a relaxed morning in Svolvær, perfect for souvenir shopping or taking in the harbour views before your onward journey. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Tromsø, often referred to as the capital of the Arctic. (Flights are not included) A scenic train journey can also be arranged as an alternative to flights. A private transfer brings you to your stylish waterfront hotel where you can settle in before the evening’s highlight. Svinøya Rorbuer
A 250 year old fishing settlement on an island in Svolvaer harbour has been converted into one of the most charming and authentic Rorbuer style accommodations. Grouped in batches around the island and with commanding views each ‘fisherman’s cottage’ has been restored but keep their traditional wooden features. Recognised by the Norwegian cultural bureau as a place of national heritage it offers a uniquely Norwegian experience.
All 30 original, and the more recently-built rorbu cabins, are of a high standard. Each cabin has one to three double bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen-cum-lounge, and a modern bathroom with shower and toilet.
The main building that houses both reception and the atmospheric restaurant where all meals are taken is a short walk away. Breakfasts are hearty and dinners based on local ingredients of fish and lamb.
Considerable emphasis has been placed on maintaining the authenticity of the rorbu cabins. The timber and time-honoured craftmanship have been preserved to convey the feeling of what a rorbu cabin was like in the old days, when the fishermen harvested the seas of Lofoten with the help of oar and sail.

Northern lights tour reviews
We booked with Aurora for a short winter break to celebrate an event. We wanted something special and that’s what we got. Clear information was backed up with straightforward booking detail, and we had a super, holiday with no complications.
The holiday exceeded my expectations and I will use Aurora in the future. Thank you!
My wife and I had an awesome and memorable trip to Iceland thanks to Alex at Aurora Nights. Alex tailored the itinerary to exactly what we wanted to see and chose excellent hotels to stay at. We totally enjoyed the city of Reykjavik and the many beautiful waterfalls. He went above and beyond to not only recommend sights to see around the Golden Circle and Ring Road, but also mapped it out so we were prepared to drive through the country during unpredictable weather and road conditions. And we were especially pleased to see the Northern Lights on our visit. Alex was very flexible to make changes to our plans and choosing the wonderful Sky Lagoon to replace our tickets for the Blue Lagoon due to the closure from the volcanic activity. We highly recommend Alex and Aurora Nights.
An amazing trip and excellent service provided by all involved. Great value for money too. Food was excellent. Accommodation was wonderful and the trips booked were outstanding. An amazing trip
Cannot thank this company enough. Our break to Iceland was the second time we’ve let them organise everything for us and once again they didn’t disappoint. Everything ran seamlessly and the organised tours were wonderful. This company knows what they are doing. If you want to experience the geysers, the volcano, the northern lights and all the other exciting things that Iceland has to offer then this is the company to use.
