Northern lights tour reviews
We booked with Aurora for a short winter break to celebrate an event. We wanted something special and that’s what we got. Clear information was backed up with straightforward booking detail, and we had a super, holiday with no complications.
The holiday exceeded my expectations and I will use Aurora in the future. Thank you!
My wife and I had an awesome and memorable trip to Iceland thanks to Alex at Aurora Nights. Alex tailored the itinerary to exactly what we wanted to see and chose excellent hotels to stay at. We totally enjoyed the city of Reykjavik and the many beautiful waterfalls. He went above and beyond to not only recommend sights to see around the Golden Circle and Ring Road, but also mapped it out so we were prepared to drive through the country during unpredictable weather and road conditions. And we were especially pleased to see the Northern Lights on our visit. Alex was very flexible to make changes to our plans and choosing the wonderful Sky Lagoon to replace our tickets for the Blue Lagoon due to the closure from the volcanic activity. We highly recommend Alex and Aurora Nights.
An amazing trip and excellent service provided by all involved. Great value for money too. Food was excellent. Accommodation was wonderful and the trips booked were outstanding. An amazing trip
Cannot thank this company enough. Our break to Iceland was the second time we’ve let them organise everything for us and once again they didn’t disappoint. Everything ran seamlessly and the organised tours were wonderful. This company knows what they are doing. If you want to experience the geysers, the volcano, the northern lights and all the other exciting things that Iceland has to offer then this is the company to use.
Aurora borealis glass igloos: FAQs
What’s the best time of year for a northern lights glass igloo holiday?
The best time to see the northern lights is any time from September to early April. During this time, Arctic skies are dark enough for aurora viewing.
You can travel in September or October to see the Arctic in a blaze of autumn colour — or travel from December to March for adventures in the snow.
How likely am I to see the northern lights?
There are no guarantees. But you have an excellent chance of seeing the aurora borealis on your glass igloo holiday.
Our glass igloos are located in the best northern lights destinations in Europe — places out in the Arctic wilderness with very little light pollution. With a glass roof overhead, you have a front-row seat whenever the aurora appears.
If skies are cloudy at your igloo resort, you can also chase the northern lights on thrilling nighttime excursions. With an expert guide, you’ll travel in search of clear skies and the brightest aurora displays.
What’s included in a northern lights igloo package?
A northern lights igloo package includes:
- Accommodation
- Transfers
- All activities
- Half-board or full-board dining
Arctic outerwear is also provided as part of our northern lights packages to Sweden and Finland (where temperatures are particularly cold in winter).
Are flights included?
No, flights aren’t included in our aurora borealis igloo holidays. However, our team of travel experts is happy to advise you on the best flights and airlines for your trip.
You can start by taking a look at the flight information we’ve put together here:
How much does a stay in a Lapland glass igloo cost?
Our northern lights holidays start from £4,000 per person, including activities but excluding flights. Many of our Arctic igloo resorts offer both glass igloo and (cheaper) hotel room accommodation. You can make your budget go further by combining the two during your stay.
Where are your igloos located?
Our hand-picked aurora borealis igloos are located throughout Finnish Lapland — in Rovaniemi, Kilpisjärvi, Levi, Nellim, Apukka, Muotka near Saariselkä and on the shores of Lake Inari. We also offer igloo accommodation in the Swedish wilderness, north of Luleå. All locations are ideal for aurora viewing.
What can I do on a northern lights igloo holiday?
On a northern lights glass igloo holiday, you can go snowmobiling, husky sledding and ice fishing. Visit Santa and his reindeer — or take a peaceful snowshoe excursion through the snowy countryside.
If you’re feeling brave, take a freezing dip in the lake before warming up in the sauna. Or simply relax by the roaring fire at your resort, enjoying tasty cuisine and watching out for the northern lights above.
What are Lapland glass igloos like inside?
Lapland glass igloos come in all shapes and sizes. We have igloos that sleep between 2 and 4 people, with luxurious bathrooms, living areas and — in some cases — even a kitchenette.
Roofs are heated, so they’re always clear of snow and ice. And some igloos come with indulgent little extras, like a private sauna, an outdoor fire pit or an indoor log burner.
